The goal of this very simple yet elegant site was to create a splash page that was not Flash-based, but looked like it. Simple transitions utilizing AJAX created a beautiful introduction that feeds into their project pages. A custom WordPress site was developed to allow our client, Holt Interiors to maintain the site on their own.

WebMote becomes the “TV”

We’ve been busy putting the polish to both the function and look of WebMote.  Beta2 allows the WebMote to truly “become” the TV.  On install, WebMote automatically catalogs all locally available compatible videos on the host system.  The cataloged titles are available for search and playback within minutes of the first load!

If you can’t wait that long, you can catch a flick on NetFlix simply by entering the title of the movie or show in the search button (exact name and spelling are required for right now) and WebMote will start any video NetFlix has available. Captured video is cataloged and added to your library for future reference and playback.

If you have an EyeTV, recorded content is scanned for iPhone/iPad playable versions and automatically added to your play list.

Want to watch the “All Golden Girls” channel, simply type in “Golden Girls” in the search window and choose your favorite episode.  At the end of each, WebMote chooses and plays the next episode for you.

While it’s only been a little over a week since the release of Beta 2, Development has not been idle.  In addition to numerous bug fixes, this release re-introduces Pandora with a video shuffle playback only HTML5 can give.  The newly added Hulu search and catalog adds available TV (Full episodes only) and feature films to the WebMote queue.  Enhancements to the iPhone/iPad remote speed the remote’s load time and allows quick search & playback of all stored titles.

To install WebMote, you must first meet the minimum requirements below:

Installation Instructions:

1. Download WebMote Installer for your OS (10.5 for  Leopard and 10.6 for Snow Leopard)
   -10.5 - Install Webmote_10.5.zip
   -10.6 - Install Webmote_10.6.zip
   
2. Unzip command line installer – Install Webmote_10-2.x.command.
   -This should be in your default download folder and may already be unzipped (depending on your system settings)
3. Run command line installer – Install Webmote_10-2.x.command
   -Double clicking on the file should open a terminal session which downloads the current WebMote and installs with default settings
   
4. Enter your system password at the prompt and then wait for the installer to complete and open the “Getting Started Guide” with your default web browser.
5. Review information and advise in “Getting Started Guide” while WebMote scans your local system for compatible video files.
6. At the end of the “Getting Started Guide”, you will be prompted to “Reset” the WebMote system using the iPhone/iPad/iPad touch remote.
7. Enjoy your existing movie libraries or search for new content on NetFlix and Hulu using the remote search tool.

Update Instructions

1. Download Update program.
   -Update Webmote.zip
2. Unzip command line installer – Update Webmote.command.
3. -This should be in your default download folder and may already be unzipped (depending on your system settings)
4. Run command line installer – Update Webmote.command
5. -Double clicking on the file should open a terminal session which downloads the current WebMote and install
   
6. Enter your system password at the prompt and then wait for the installer to complete.
7. WebMote will restart at the end of the update process.
